The Big Cheese

This week was Mary Beth's special week at Kindergarten: she was the "Big Cheese"! That means that she gets to bring pictures of herself and family & friends for the bulletin board, bring 3 special items to show and tell, she wrote and illustrated a book about herself called "The important Mary Beth Book," and brought one of her favorite books to have her teacher read to the class. One of the best parts about being the Big Cheese though is you get to bring your parents to school! Today was our day.
Mary Beth was so excited! She showed me where all of her stuff was in the room so of course we had to take pictures by it.
First John talked about things Mary Beth loves and then he told the kids about his job. Needless to say that part was B O R I N G. haha- sorry John but you know it was.
Then I talked about my favorite job: being a mom! Then I read another one of Mary Beth's favorite books- Ruthie. It was a fun morning in Kindergarten!

the cousins picture

I found this picture that I forgot to post last month when my sister and Julia were visiting.
It's so cute! I knew my family would want to see it.

Valentine treats

The kids got their special Valentine's Day package from my parents today and I let them open it right away. (I get too excited to wait.) They loved them- thanks Mom and Dad!
They always send the cutest little bundles of surprises for all the holidays-
I LOVE the special care my mom puts into the presentation of her gifts- it's my favorite part.
As you can see the kids wasted no time digging into the chocolates!:)

coupon envelopes

I made these envelopes using scrapbook paper, labels, and my great new laminating machine! By the way if you don't own this nifty gadget you MUST get one- you will not regret it. I'm laminating everything! Anyway, I got this idea here.
Love these!

best Friday

First my Friday began with these pretty flowers given by the best husband ever.

Then I spent the day downtown shopping with my friend Amber and look what I got:

I found these at my favorite store downtown Funky Junk for $1 each!! The owner was trying to clear out her clearance section so instead of 50% off it was just $1. I couldn't believe it... that bag was regular $36, the cooler was $30, the cushion was $20 and the jar was $8. I also got a little toiletry bag that I forgot to photograph that was regular $24 for $1. Don't you just love it when stuff like this happens!?!?

Then it was pizza and movie night at our house like every Friday.
We watched Beezus and Ramona- it was cute!

Estelle's Baptism Day

Little Estelle was baptised on Sunday.
She was so good- barely made a peep the whole service!
Here's Mickey after he snuck out of his pew and kept squeezing in between me and John whispering loudly that he couldn't see.

In a fortunate coincidence Shia was chosen as one of Estelle's "guardian angel"!

Here's Mary Beth sneaking into the godparents picture!
What a beautiful family.
Thank you again Maggie and Dan for letting us be such a special part of Estelle's life.
Estelle's proud sisters.
So sweet.
It was a very happy day...

groundhog freezer paper shirts

I have never tried to make a t-shirt using freezer paper before but have always wanted to. Yesterday morning I got the idea to finally give it a try in celebration of one of my kids' favorite small holidays: Groundhog's Day. I asked my friend Amber if she would want to make one for her son Shia too so we figured it out together last night. There are a lot of tutorials out there but we followed this one and it worked perfectly! We LOVED how they turned out and I can't wait to make more- I'm already planning on trying a couple for President's Day!
