Blaze {Jeffrey's pet/wild bunny}

Remember Blaze?  Jeffrey's bunny from the community garden?  Well he escaped from his box in our garage the other day but today he was spotted and then lured out with some food.  Jeffrey grabbed my camera and snapped some cute pictures.

Good luck to you Blaze!

Sodbuster Days {Fort Ransom, ND}

Today we traveled south to Fort Ransom, ND to attend Sodbuster Days.
Before we left I had John drive by the schools because I love looking at them.  Above is the original one room school house and below is the current two room school house.  How great is that??

I absolutely love this area- I always tell John I want to have a little hobby farm in Fort Ransom.  It's just so beautiful!  The first time we went I kept saying "where ARE we???"  It's so green and hilly!

One of our favorite parts of Sodbuster Days is the homemade apple strudel they make right there in a dutch oven and then share with everyone.  Yummmmmmmmmmy.

Jeffrey always hangs out watching the blacksmith of course!

This year Mary Beth helped to card some wool that was being spun.
If you've never been and live around here I suggest you go- the next one that is coming up is Sept. 7-8.

Fishin' with Grandpa and a One Room Schoolhouse

This morning we got up and went fishing with Grandpa on Lake Metigoshe.

Mickey usually reads more than he fishes. :)  But he loves being out with everyone on the boat.

We caught lots of fish and the kids had a great time.  We raced back to town at lunch time to meet Grandma at the Chinese restaurant for lunch... yummy!

Then we packed up and hit the road.  It was time to go back to Fargo.  On the way we spotted this old one-room schoolhouse and John was kind enough to pull over so I could investigate.

I took these pictures through the broken window.  It was so cool!  It looked like someone was trying to restore it.  My dream would be to own a hobby farm with one of these on the property.  Now, wouldn't that be something??

Anyone reading this know anything about the history of this school?

Back to driving home... with Boo at the wheel again.

Gorgeous prairieland!

Bottineau and the International Peace Gardens

Yesterday we headed out to Bottineau, ND so John could pop in to his 20th High School Reunion and we could visit Grandma and Grandpa.  Boo had to come with us because we couldn't find anyone to watch her- she was hilarious in the van so I had to share a couple pictures of that.

Here she is roasting herself up on the dashboard and below is her trying to get as close to John as she could even though he's the one who pretends not to like her as much as the rest of us.

Today we drove up to Canada to see the International Peace Gardens- how is it that I've never been there???  It was beautiful and a perfect day to be there.  Great weather and not too many people.

There was a cactus exhibit in a greenhouse that was so interesting!  I've never seen so many cacti in one place.  The kids thought it was fun to act like they were going to poke their fingers on the sharpest looking ones.

We tried to get some good pictures of our family for our dossier but my kids have trouble with family photos... there's a lot of blinking, wincing, crazy smiles, ect.  Plus I never like how I look... ugh.

Apparently the kids have no trouble taking pictures with their grandparents though!

We stopped later and went on a little walk and played and rested a bit.

It was a good day.
