Martin Luther King Jr. Day {clay hearts at Plains Art Museum}

Today we headed to the Plains Art Museum to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
There are a fantastic opera singer(pictured above)- he made me cry it was so moving, and there was some recitations from a couple of actors.

 Our friends showed up, met us for some lunch and then we all headed over to the creativity center for a special project we had signed up for.

 

 

 

 

We made clay tiles with hearts that will be donated for a large project for Giving Hearts Day and then we got to make another clay heart project for us to keep.  It was really fun!  I love how there are so many free art opportunities for kids that are offered by the museum...
and adults get to join in the fun too!

January Kid Quest {Plains Art Museum}

Today was the day for January's Kid Quest at the Plains Art Museum.
If you live in Fargo and you aren't going to these- please give it a try!  They are so fun and their free!

Today was about making imaginary creatures out of clay- which of course they LOVED!

we heart art

Saturday morning we headed over to the Plains Art Museum for the free children's art project they were hosting. A photographer took their picture in front of the background they chose and then they framed it with watercolor paper and used pastels and/or watercolors to finish the scene. They LOVED it and were so creative! Each one of them incorperated the other 2 in their own. For example: Jeffrey was on the moon and Mickey was on Mars and Mary Beth was floating in the sky so... that scenario appeared in each of their drawings. SO COOL!

Yesterday the kids each painted one of my garden rocks to add some art to our yard. :) They got to choose where they placed them and now when I'm watering or weeding I get to see I little piece of their artwork in my gardens!

While Jeffrey painted his derby boat for cub scouts Mary Beth worked on a fingerprint rainbow.

feeling crafty

I love this hand-spun/hand-dyed wool I got off etsy. The only problem is I only got a little bit(I'm not good at picturing how much such and such yards is in my mind) so all I could figure out to make was a little doll blanket for one of Mary Beth's doll's. Hopefully I'll have enough for that!! Look at those colors! I'm really getting into knitting lately. I taught myself to bind off using youtube so I was able to finish 2 projects that have been sitting in my knitting bag for months. What a relief!

Jeffrey and I had "craft time" together tonight before bed. He is working on making paper beads using cut up magazine pages and tacky glue. He won't tell me what the finished project is going to be though- he says it's a secret.

I kept doing things to make him laugh. Isn't he adorable???

Oh little Feffy- I love it that you still want to wear jammies that have baby dinos all over them.

You are so sweet and kind and happy all the time.

I loved our special craft time together tonight.

I can't wait to see the special project when it is finished!

Of course Mary Beth had to come down and check things out.
