hoppin hoedown {part 2}

these were taken with my iphone...
first off- arts and crafts
then my favorite- snacks!
Jeffrey's favorite: root beer floats :)
Mickey's catching a bandit...
then we went dancing!!! it was so fun! the boys started out a tish shy about it but then they turned into dancing machines! they played all their favorite songs and then they regretted waiting so long to start dancing because the time flew by and before we knew it- it was over!
they did a drawing for a couple of the balloon bouquets and yes- we won! we seem to win a lot of drawings... I really should think about playing the lottery.
I'm so glad I had this night with my boys. In the car on the way home they said "tonight was the best night of my life." :)

Hoppin' Hoedown {part 1}

The boys and I went to a Mother-Son shindig in October that I forgot to blog about. It was put on by the Parks and Rec and it was a cowboy theme. The boys pulled out all their stuff from when they were tinies- so cute! I didn't have anything except this hat so I made do.
More pictures to come!

golf

today was Mickey's first day of golf lessons... we think this will be a sport he will love
for 2 reasons: the outfits and the slow, individualized pace

UPDATE: Mickey does indeed heart golf and Jeffrey decided to take lessons with him-
thereby adding a 3rd reason for Mickey to love it

science museum of Minnesota

on our last day in the cities we visited the science museum with Jenny and Paul(sadly I have no pictures of them there!)
the boys participated in a lab experiment about cheek cells(gross but interesting)
they were saying "when we grow up we are going to be scientist brothers"
then they all did experiments with estimating and a catapult
they were launching cats- get it? cats... catapult?
Mickey is the only one who got it in our family :)

there are so many cool things to do there- if you haven't gone you must!
more pictures of the trip coming soon!

Mickey and Jeffrey sleep over

Mickey was off to his first sleep over tonight(Jeffrey had done this once before when we were moving to Fargo). Shia was having the boys over for a night of silly fun before he moves.
As you can see by the clothes it was FINALLY warm here today- 71 degrees!!
We walked the boys down- Mary Beth wanted to help with the luggage. :)

They were SOOO excited- there was to be pizza, pop, movies, ice cream, forts, sleeping bags, staying up late and candy.

I hope they are having fun!

I wonder if I'll get a call at 2 am saying Mickey or Jeffrey misses us and wants to come home...

John, MB and I went out to Red Lobster for dinner, then played Wii and watched a Veggie Tale movie in bed. She had a fun time being the only child for the night.

Mickey's Spring Choir Concert

Last night was Art Night and Mickey's big choir concert. He was so excited!

look at this cutie!
the big finish

he's so happy!

here is his music/choir teacher and his student teacher

he was mistakenly given a 1/2 year award when he should have gotten a 1 year- his teacher gave him the right one the next day...

Mickey's best friends

trying out the instrument he wants to play next year-much to my dismay- a ginormous BASS!!

Cub Scout boat races

last night was The Regatta

here's the boats
Jeffrey racing Shia- didn't go well... when Jeffrey blew on his sail the sail turned to the side and then the boat didn't go. He was kinda frustrated- as was I! I think we were supposed to secure the sail to the mast with glue or something... Same thing happened to Mick and a few other boys. Races only seem fun if you are winning...at least some of the time. Just sayin'...

Mickey got better.

The boys raced against each other 1 time- Mickey won.

Jeffrey figured out that he had to blow on the boat, not the sail and then he started winning races. He ended up coming in 3rd place! Mickey, however, had a melt down after losing a very tight race and ended up in the car. M-A-D.

The whole thing was very stressful for me and apparently for our boys too! Both of them cried at some point- one of them cried 2 times(or 3- I lost track). We need to work on being a good sport and not a sore loser some more I guess... jeesh! John looked at me and said"huh. I wonder where they get that." I don't know what he's talking about! I'm totally fine with competitions.

As long as I win...

Camp Wilderness

This weekend the boys and John went to Camp Wilderness (a boy scout camp north of Park Rapids, Minnesota) for 3 days. They LOVE it there. They snow-shoed, skiied, hiked, climbed trees, played broom ball, had a bonfire, sled, and slept in bunkbeds. Basically non-stop fun boy stuff! Mary Beth and I were sad without our boys but we had a great girl weekend together! (more on that tomorrow... hint: we had an American Girl pizza party)
It's so cool that the boys and John have the opportunity do go to this great camp every year. They make lots of memories there and have so much fun with their friends.
I'm happy they are home though! :)
