the lights are on

the tree that is. for those of you that know me- you know that putting the lights on the Christmas tree is my most dreaded task of the season. it usually begins a series of events that involve me "ruining Christmas." again, if you know me you know I don't mean literally ruining Christmas. wait, yes I do.
anyway, here's what I felt like after taking out the lights, testing them and finding out that 5 strings were burnt out, and then rationing the ones I had left. you see, i like A LOT of lights on the tree. perfectly strung and wrapped around each branch. this takes many hours, involves covering my body completely in sap and partially in blood, and some swearing under my breath. it never helps matters if i don't have enough lights to work with.
well, it's not perfect because it's skimpy and i wanted to just be finished and make positive strides with my lights issues so i didn't draw it out for days and didn't go buy more lights the next day. it will have to do.
maybe i'll get it right next year...
for now- chalk this up to reason #1 why i ruined Christmas this year.
